When we come into possession of family letters, we may initially not know what to do with them. Sallie Bingham will discuss using techniques of fiction and research to both use and transcend the purely personal.

I'll be reading from The Blue Box as part of the SOMOS 2015 Winter Writers Series with Cecil Dawkins, author of A Woman of the Century, Frances Minerva Nunnery (1898-1997).

Readings and discussions with five nationally acclaimed authors, all residents of Northern New Mexico... Celebrating the transformational possibilities of literacy. Featuring Sallie Bingham, Natalie Goldberg, Anne Hillerman, John Nichols and Valerie Plame. Moderated by Mary-Charlotte, host of RadioCafé on KSFR.

I'll be appearing with Betty Boyd Caroli, Ruth Franklin and Gail Levin, in a panel on “Telling the Story”: “In writing about non-traditional subjects, biographers are introducing new questions about domestic life, sexuality, female ambition–as well as new narrative techniques and approaches.”
The Jim Wayne Miller Celebration of Writing is a contest hosted annually by WKU and is open to students in an English major or minor as well as those in creative writing classes.
