Now that we are all used to the media frenzy over the Trump, which has had so much to do with his build-up and the notion that he might somehow become president, it’s time to step back.
The “angry white men” we hear so much about have every reason to be angry. Their reign, centuries long, is over.
It’s been over for a while, but apparently they didn’t notice. It was over as soon as Title Nine gave girls and women access to athletic programs at high schools and colleges equal to what their brothers had enjoyed for decades.
It was over as soon as women gained access to graduate degrees and began to flood law schools and medical schools.
The mistake was to give us access. Because as soon as women have access, we rise to the top.
Not because we are better or smarter but because being discriminated against has taught us how hard we have to work to succeed.
Entitlement has drained generations of men of the ability to work hard, to struggle against the odds, or to express gratitude for their ease of access.
It couldn’t continue forever in a country that insists on calling itself a democracy.
Yes, we still have a ways to go; the continuing discrimination against women directors and producers in Hollywood is only one example. But constant pressure and lawsuits launched by the ACLU will eventually erode even that barrier. And the others that remain will go down, too, in time, and the discrimination faced by minorities will be worn away by the pressure of numbers and of determination.
Now we must be prepared to hear trumpeting about the women—and Africa-Americans, and Hispanics—who support the Trump. It was interesting to note in the New York Times front page article on Sunday that the reporters could come up with only a handful of Latinas and no African-Americans who fit the media’s wish to show us that we should be afraid that the very people the Trump wants to demean, disfranchise and deport support him.
Why do “They” want readers to believe that?
I don’t know. Probably, in the case of women, at least, because it feeds that ancient notion that women don’t support women.
Another tired old notion that needs to go down in flames.
We have always supported each other, and we will always support each other, and we know what side of the bread the butter is spread on.
So get prepared, folks. The revolution has already happened.
It didn’t appear to be over as I watched Mrs. Trump read the monitors, last night.
Old news. This happened in 2012 with Mitt Romney’s loss to Obama.
I hope?
Thank you Sallie!
Excellent Sallie, so we’ll said, thank you!
Sallie you are right. My old pappy used to say, “the sun don’t shine on the same dogs ass every day”
Excellent piece Sallie ! Thank you. Sharing…
Somehow Trump is just your puppet , but what have yours done to me ? I wonder if you understand this question or how it is that I am a political prisoner or causality of your sordid machinations that have had nothing to do with right or wrong and certainly not justice for all . Have I been unseated in life because I was born Clarence Morrow Vaughan the fourth , or because I lost my toe in a lawnmower when I was 12 ? Did Ann Wells have something to do with my being made a failure or maybe your mother ? No it was all you girls hero Bill Guethlein’s fault . It is a political world and no one has been more clearly defamed than myself . Thought I would let you know in case you were thinking other thoughts .
Yea !
That was on my mind last night for sure!
Brilliant. Thank you!
Please god, have mercy.
Please god, have mercy.
Well said and so very true!
Brava Sallie!
These angry white men have done it to themselves! Bravo, Sallie!
Lydia Lewis- Girl power!!
Definitely time for a change. White males have failed miserably.
Oh, really? Not on Facebook, it isn’t. To make matters worse, they’re joined by angry old women too.
I hope you are right!
